Sunday Funday

It was nice yesterday which was a nice bonus considering the 50’s and rain from the weekend.  There was a ton of rain.  We walked the dogs through the park a few times which is 1.5 miles per loop.  We found the little alligator which is now our park mascot.  I decided to name it Elli.  It’s short for Ellie or Elliott as I didn’t get close enough to check.

We then headed towards Dunellon to scout a few potential job locations.  We did some drive by recon and then headed for some diesel.  We were close to Rainbow Springs State Park so we decided to check it out.

The springs were beautiful and they were pretty quiet when we were there.  There are a ton of fish visible in the springs and on a good day the visibility is 225’.  As we were walking the trail, Katy almost stepped on a big snake.  Turns out it was a yellow rat snake.  Neither of us care for “danger noodles” and we waited a long time for it to cross the trail.

As we were leaving the park, several families were coming in with their kayaks.  We saw a rather rare phenomenon on their arrival.  It’s a rare breed of folks who drag their boats everywhere they go, even down concrete stairs.  In my opinion, plastic boats would last longer if you didn’t drag them hundreds of yards on pavement or concrete.  I could be wrong though.

After the springs we headed down to Lecanto and then into Crystal River.  We stopped at the Outpost Range and then stopped at Crackers for an application.  We drove out to the Archaeological State Park and then back to the park.  We walked the dogs and then took a bike ride to the gulf.  Overall it was a good day.
