We’ve been here over a week

Hard to believe we’ve been in Florida over a week.  We’ve been exploring the area a bit, taking bike rides and scouting places of employment.  It’s nice being parked and knowing we are staying for a while.  We’ve been working on the same tank of diesel for over a week.

Now that Lola has the racks and kayaks off the roof, our mileage has improved to 23 on the highway.  I washed and waxed the truck, but haven’t gotten to the trailer yet.  We’ve had a bit of cold and rain the past two days so I should probably get on the roof and clean.  There are leaves, limbs and acorns everywhere.  The trailer could definitely use a wash and wax too.  I also picked up some upholstery cleaner to do our couch/dinette area.  I called for a price from a local detail company and they said $350.  I’ll try it first. I donated blood earlier this week, they were pretty excited that I sought out a donation place while on the road.  I’ll get two more in before I leave.

Our full time travel friends arrived earlier this week.  We’ve had dinner, played cards, rode bikes and attended some park events together.  It’s cool having someone around that we know.  We are all on a hunt for a job and Troy has an interview today.  Katy was looking at a server position, but the establishment does not allow patrons to leave a tip unless they have cash.  Must be something to do with CC fees?  Doesn’t seem like a great place to work.  Servers live off tips.  As people who don’t carry cash, this is a bummer.

I’ve dropped applications at a hardware store, a Rural King, a fishing store, stopped by a gun range and gun store.  I’ve also not dropped off apps  after walking into a few places.  Something will pop up this week.  I’m going to head back out to the gun range and tackle shop to follow up.  It was kind of surprising to us that a few “lounges” also known as bars still allow smoking indoors.  We’ve noticed this phenomenon while doing recon on a few spots.

Last night Troy and I had the clubhouse to ourselves and watched the Duck game.  I really thought it would’ve been an easier win for Oregon, but a win is a win.  We are still working on a few things for our recap post, but that’s coming soon.
