Two-ish Weeks Left

Over the past few weeks we’ve been exploring closer to home.  We had a few further trips planned to branch out, but have put those on hold due to fuel prices.  It seems like quite a few people have pumped the brakes on travel.

We explored the area of Medina Lake which we stayed at last February.  We visited a few wineries over that way to include Medina River which is also a Harvest Host location.  We met a full time couple over there and they recently came to stay where we are working.  The other night we had a few beverages with them and talked about our travels.  It was a nice meet up.

While driving in a 40mph crosswind at 70mph on the I-10, our Yakima Skybox gave up its position on the roof and slid over to a kayak.  I took everything out and re secured it.  Fingers crossed that it holds.

We’ve done several bike rides on the city trail systems and explored a bit more of the city itself.  We went to the historic market district and checked out the shops.  We went to the Mariachi bar and listened to music.  We also visited the Mexican Bakery which had great food.

We visited The Esquire which has the longest wooden bar in Texas.  It has great food and drinks and is right on the River Walk.  It is worth a visit.  We also went to Pinkerton’s BBQ which is the best BBQ in the area.  Their ribs are the best I’ve had and their brisket is tied with Terry Blacks in Austin.  Definitely worth a stop.

We are down to about two weeks left in SA and we get back on the road for a bit.  We feel ready to get back in the truck with the trailer in tow.
