Fort Worth Stockyards
Yesterday we took the back way from San Antonio to Fort Worth. Azle to be more specific. The drive was pretty quiet and uneventful. We passed through some pretty country in the 5 plus hours.
We arrived at our Boondockers Welcome, “Friends in RV Spaces” and unhooked. I found that one of our new tires on the trailer has developed a sidewall blister. I guess we will be heading to Discount Tire for a new one. We turned on the AC for the dogs and headed for town. It was in the high 80’s and breezy.
Google brought us through some interesting neighborhoods on our way to the stockyards. We also stopped for fuel, $125 for a fill, ouch. The stockyards were busy but we found some parking a few blocks out. First impression was Old West meets Nashville. Bars, restaurants, live music and a bunch of people. Lots of cowboy hats, boots and spurs. There were also a lot of bikers. Not the pedal kind, lots of leather vests and patches.
We jumped in line and grabbed a drink for our walk through the area. We checked out a bunch of shops and exhibits and walked all over the place. We saw a small cattle drive with longhorns and there were horses in the street regularly. This area is definitely worth the stop.
After a few hours in town, we did a quick grocery shop and then came home to make dinner. We were going to stay here two days due to weather up north, but I think we are going to move on.
