Pawhuska and the Pioneer Woman
Yesterday we took a detour north and east to Pawhuska. We stopped at the Pioneer Woman’s (Ree Drummond) Mercantile and other shops. The revitalization of downtown Pawhuska is quite impressive and the Drummonds have quite a bit to do with that.
The Mercantile draws in a lot of people and it was busy when we were there. We escaped with just a sticker and a spendy lunch. The cafe is nice, but we would try the wood fired pizza over the cafe if we went back. There was a long wait and the food was OK. The staff were really getting after it and had some large tables.
After lunch we scouted the laundromat and went back to get the trailer and dogs. We parked at the bank and did three big loads of laundry. We also wandered the town a bit while making our laundry soup. Again, this is a cute town and worth the stop if you are in the area.
With laundry complete we headed for Tulsa and the Hard Rock Casino and hotel. The casino has a large Rv lot with cameras and it’s patrolled by security. We secured the dogs and headed in. We each gambled $15 on penny and nickel slots, big spenders. We had a few drinks and came out $100 ahead. The house doesn’t always win.
We had dinner at The Lodge which is across the street from the casino. The food was really good and the service was excellent. Back at the rig we played some Sequence and then watched TV. One downside of our free stay is that it was very bright and very loud. All night. This morning we woke up and had some coffee. There was a class A then went over to use the dump station and they had a poopsie. It looks like their black hose connection broke and then who know how many gallons of $#!¥ wound up on the ground. Time to move on to a new state today.
