The Eagle Has Landed
We arrived in Polson yesterday after a 3 hour drive from Butte. The weather was clear and it was smooth sailing. The drive up from Missoula was new to us and is full of beautiful scenery. We stopped at our second watercraft checkpoint and gave them our paperwork from Wednesday. We chatted a bit about our destination and plans and were on our way.
As we created the last hill coming into Polson we were struck by the beauty of the Flathead Valley. Southern Flathead Lake with its islands and the Mission Mountains still dressed with snow. It’s an impressive sight.
We found our way to the campground and met some co-workers before going to our site. We are all the way in the back and have great views of the mountains and a broken view of the lake. What a spot, we even had a Bald Eagle flying around as we were setting up. We walked the dogs and then walked down to The Shoe for a late lunch. They have great food and beverages and a multi million dollar view. We also saw two Bald Eagles while eating.
After walking back from lunch we headed in to grocery shop and took a quick lap around town. On our return, our other supervisor was back at the park and gave us a practically new 4 burner stainless gas grill. We chatted a bit and he went back to work. There are 109 total sites here and we begin work on Monday. Based on day 1, we may never leave.
I also forgot to mention there were 10 deer on the hill behind our rig last night. There was also an owl hooting just after dark to put us to sleep.
