Small Town LIVIN

This past week was pretty solid.  The summer has finally arrived and the weather has been consistent.  The workweek went by pretty fast and we’ve now started a new schedule of Sun, Mon, Tuesday off.

We went to the Mission Mountain NRA Rodeo and really enjoyed it.  The Mutton Bustin was hilarious, the youngest rider was 3 years old which was really impressive.  There was also bare back, saddle bronc, bull riding and some trick riding.  We saw some great rides and watched some people take some tough falls.  It was a great time in an awesome setting.

We’ve got a little over 60 miles of rides in this week.  The opening of the Going to the Sun Road has been delayed.  Apparently they found a snow drift 80’ deep and have dealt with a few avalanche chutes.  We may get to ride the week after the 4th.  After our Sunday ride we stopped at Glacier for a beer or two and ended up playing “bags” with a group of people from Great Falls.  It was fun and I hit my zone towards the end with 3 in a row.  While we were on our Sunday ride we saw a black tinted out suburban with Yellowstone Dutton Ranch on the side.  We could only tell that there were a few people in it.  I wonder who…

Yesterday we got a ride in and then headed up to Woods Bay, Big Fork and Kalispell.  We did a little shopping and got some fresh Washington cherries.  The harvest here is a little behind.  We looked at two boats, but neither of them are going to work out for us.  The hunt continues.

Currently Flathead Lake is over full.  The Flathead River is backed up and not flowing into the lake where is crosses the highway by Big Fork.  Kerr Dam is a sight to see, all the gates are open, but it can’t keep up.
