New Roads
Yesterday we left Billings for Wyoming. We breezed past Sheridan and Buffalo which look really nice with leaves and colors. This whole drive has been different as there were no leaves on our April run.
We turned east at Buffalo and took the 90, which was a new road for us. It was high desert and like the Badlands. It was pretty warm and we saw a few large snakes on the highway. Some were live and some had been rolled over. The drive up into the Wyoming Black Hills was really nice.
We slid into the Belle Fourche FCFS campground in early afternoon at Devils Tower National Monument. We found a great spot in the B Loops with a great view from the rig. The 4 mile hike from the camper up to the tower trail and around was spectacular. We would highly recommend it. You could also see a few hikers making their way up the columns.
Along the path there are the typical informational park signs and there are prayer flags in the trees. It feels like a powerful place that up to 20 Tribes called home throughout the years. It is known as also known as Bear Lodge by Native Americans. It is a little out of the way, but you owe it to yourself to visit here.
We ended the night with some red wine and stir fry. Overall it was a great day.
