Nooga

Yesterday was our first day in Chattanooga.  We like this city, even for its size (over 180k).  After walking the dogs around the campground, we took a little drive to the top of lookout mountain.  The parking meters were broken so it was free, bonus.  We headed out to point park and were able to use our interagency pass to get in.

The views from up there were spectacular, I think the fall color peak is a week or so off though.  Lots of Civil War history along the point and mountain in general.  Definitely worth a stop or drive through as there are also some impressive houses along the way.  Ruby Falls and Rock City are really expensive to get into, not sure if we’ll do those.

After our time at the point, we headed downtown and split lunch and a beer at Tailgate Brewing.  Katy really enjoyed the beer and the food was good too.  We then drove back to the park and walked the kids again.  The campground was getting into full swing for their Halloween Party.  We later learned this is the 16th year and people book here a year in advance.  We got the dogs comfortable and headed to town for our river cruise.

The notice said to arrive an hour early, that was a ploy to get people to drink in my opinion.  Even though we were getting on the boat a little later than planned, we scored some great seats on the second deck right in front.  The 1.5 hour sunset cruise on the Southern Belle was a fun time and not overly expensive.  We went upriver and came back down to town as the sun was setting.  There will be a ton of pics on the blog…

Back at the campground our Porketta was ready after being in the crockpot all day.  We started a fire and enjoyed the Halloween costumes parade past us towards the haunted forest.  Good day.
