Out of Chiefland
Our time in Chiefland has drawn to a close. It’s been a good couple months and I really enjoyed my time at Chiefland Farm Supply. I learned a few things about hardware and livestock and was able to help people with their projects more times than not. My co workers and supervisors were great and they will be missed.
Over the past few weeks we’ve done a bit of trip planning and even took a trip over to Port St Joe and Mexico Beach again. This is the second time we’ve gone to a place twice with the trailer in tow. To say we like the area is an understatement. Old Salt Park is just a few blocks to the beach and the ability to easily walk to the ocean is a huge plus.
Being that it was spring break, we were eager to see how busy the area is. We were pleasantly surprised that it was still pretty quiet. There are quite a few rental homes, but no big attractions or resorts in the area.
Tyndall AFB is about 15 minutes to the north and the jets we’re pretty active this trip. We love the sound of freedom and watching the jets. We drove up to the base one day, but didn’t find a great spot to stop and watch them. There were still several days where they were low enough coming by the park or over town to make out a good amount of detail. There seemed to be a good mix of jets, F-16, F-15, F-22 and F-18s.
We’ve been toting a beach umbrella around with us since spring of 21’ when we were in Myrtle Beach and have never used it. We broke it out for a quick run to the beach and set it up. It was quite comical compared to everyone else’s set ups. We also had to tether it to our cooler so it wouldn’t blow away. We got a good laugh out of it and still have it for further beach adventures.
We meant to get a few more things done when we were here. Dentist appointments didn’t happen, Drs appointments did and we got the dogs their shots and checkups. We took Duncan to a shot clinic in a local store. I stood inside with him for over an hour before we were seen. He became inpatient with all the other dogs and no playtime so he took a pee on some merchandise…such a good boy. Maggie got her rabies shot at the vet and I gave them their other shots. They are available at most feed stores. It is way less expensive and not hard to do if your spouse can keep the dogs occupied with treats.
That’s it for now, there’s more to come as we are getting back on the road.
