Graduation

Hard to believe we’ve been in Texas for 5 weeks already and that the RV Tech Course is complete.  I graduated yesterday, we have this week off and then I take two more courses on Generators and Solar Systems.  Class at the NRVTA has been really good and the instructors are great.  The amount of knowledge and skills I’ve picked up in these past 5 weeks is staggering.  I’m hoping to put them to use soon.

Our new business is named North Star RV Services, LLC and we specialize in mobile RV repair, service and maintenance.  We’ll be working in Michigan later in the summer.  We’re excited to get this thing off the ground.

When not in class, we’ve been enjoying all that Texas has to offer in May, June and July.  That’s heat!  For the past few weeks, heat indexes have been over 100*, with the highest being 124*.  On a serious note, we’ve gone to a few Costco locations near Dallas, been to Tyler a few times and explored the local Athens area.

In our travels we’ve done a few wineries, breweries and restaurants.  Of the local wineries, 3 P’s is our favorite, all their wines have been good.  Tyler has a decent vibe downtown and a few good breweries.  They also have Dutch Bros Coffee and we’ve made a few stops in there for my PNW coffee fix.

Athens has a nice farmers market and small town feel.  We also hit up the stores in Gun Barrel City quite a bit.  It’s a little smaller than Athens, but has everything you need.  Stay tuned for more, we plan on getting out and exploring a bit more this week.  We’re hoping it’s not as hot so we can get on our bikes.  I have a 48 mile ride in August and haven’t sat on a bike since we got here.
