Texas in the Rearview
The past three weeks have flown by. We went to the Waxahachie 4th of July parade with our new friends, Mel and Doug from school. It was a nice small town parade, we found some shade and watched it roll by. We went back two weeks later and stopped into Meat Church for some spices. They could really pick it up a notch by serving BBQ there.
We went through Solar systems for RVs and really enjoyed it. It was 1120ah of Big Beard lithium with two arrays of solar including 200w and 330w solar panels with Victron components. At the end of the week we had a Louisiana cookout in site 311 with some classmates. It was a great time except for the 100* in the shade.
We also hit up a few new places and had a few bike rides even with the heat. The first ride was up in Plano and it was 98* in the shade when we got back. The next ride was in Tyler where it was just a little cooler. I currently have 3 weeks until my big ride. If you are ever out in Trinidad Texas, the Triple N Winery and the Whistle Stop Cafe are worth a stop.
This past week we worked on Generators, both off and on board. Our instructor, Chris, was a great teacher. I feel like I learned so much and it was fun working on small engines again. If you need help with solar or generators, let me know. Class ended on Friday at about noon and we immediately headed north. The heat had been bad for the whole week, 121* was the high on Wednesday.
Yesterday we left Texas and made our way into Arkansas. More to come this week on our trip to MI.
