Southbound

After leaving the beet harvest we made our way to the Grand Rapids area and stayed with a nice Boondockers Welcome host.  Jack and Jean have been to all 50 states and all the Canadian provinces.  They were great hosts and fun to talk to.  While in the area we briefly explored Grand Rapids which was too big/busy for us.  We enjoyed Holland and Grand Haven as it was the off season and a slower pace.  We walked the main areas of each downtown and escaped without buying anything but pie.  Big Lake Brewing and Offside were nice stops.

Traveling further south into Indiana we made it to the RV Hall of Fame to see Keep Your Daydream’s Bird.  We liked seeing all of the displays and the evolution of RVs.  The Bird was in disarray.  It was still nice to see it, but it was a mess and none of the displays were out.  We did have a large 5th wheel park right next to us and run their generator all night.  Don’t be that guy or gal, especially when the parking lot is 20 acres.  Park somewhere else.

We spent the next few days in the South Bend area at a Lippert Technical School.  We got there a little early and checked out South Bend and the Notre Dame Campus.  What a beautiful place, I think we missed peak fall color by two weeks.  The grotto and Basilica are amazing.  It was a pretty nice day so we walked a few miles.

Lippert Training at their facility was well worth it.  $50 for two and a half days of hands on learning.  They also provided breakfast and lunch each day along with a tech shirt and backpack.  I highly recommend it.  Yesterday we finished up and drove south to Cincinnati.  Back on the road again this morning, chasing 70*.
