Out of Alabama

We are leaving Alabama today after being here for over 3 months.  The last six weeks or so in Gulf Shores we hit up quite a few places to eat, looking for the best fish tacos.  We found them at The Cove in Gulf Shores.  OSO in Orange Beach has good ones and so does Jaco’s in Pensacola .

We also spent a lot of time biking and at the beach as the weather stabilized.  The gulf was still pretty cold but the spring breakers were definitely enjoying it.  Work really slowed down for me after a local tech filed a complaint about me having my business sign in the truck.  I still had some work, but it was slow.

Our Lippert seRV events worked out great.  We met some great people and had a good time at The Ronald McDonald House in Pensacola.  We did house chores, made cards for the children and families and then made lunch for the families and staff.  We also went over and volunteered there on our own.  It holds a place in our hearts.

We caught the Blue Angels Homecoming from Johnson Beach and their first home practice which was great.  American AirPower is always impressive to watch, especially when it’s a team like the Blues.

April 1 was our departure date from the Gulf and we ended up parked an extra day in Jemison to avoid storms up north.  We were at a Harvest Host winery and they told us to stay another day.  We were parked behind a steel building that blocked the wind quite a bit.  The weather did get sporty anyway and stormed for hours.  The wind driven rain blew water into our refrigerator vents and into the rig.  After breaking out some towels and not being parked level, we got everything dried up.  There were some tornadoes about 10 miles south of us.  Thankfully there were no injuries.

The past two days were in Athens and Huntsville.  If you come into the area there are plenty of things to do.  Space Museum, shopping, Costco…etc.  If you like beer and pizza, you should visit Yellowhammer Brewing which is attached to Earth and Stone Pizza.  Both of them are a 10!  Everything we had was good!  We are off to Tennessee for a day.
