End of the ALCAN
Sunday we woke up to 29* and sunny. We got some laundry done, made breakfast in the oven as our pan drawer was jammed shut and got back on the road by 11. We finished driving the ALCAN back to the start point. It only took us 5.5 months.
We then headed west-southwest towards Prince George. The drive again was beautiful and we should’ve stopped in Chetwynd to see all the wood sculptures. We paid the most money for fuel along this route at Mackenzie junction, $2.29/liter. Our Boondockers hosts are about 15 minutes out of Prince George and they have a very nice property. We made dinner and had a fire with them. It was a nice conversation. Our drawer also became unstuck on our drive. Another side note, one of our tires is wearing unevenly and we should probably swap it out with our spare. I may also raise our hitch one position as we are loaded down quite a bit more than when we first struck out on this adventure.
Monday we had a pretty slow day after driving for a week. We went into PG for brunch at the White Spot. It was one of the better breakfasts we have had in a long time. The Philly Steak Hash is really good. We also hit up Canadian Costco and picked up some DEF for the truck.
After that was the Canadian Superstore. It was very busy and we didn’t know where anything was so we wandered around quite a bit before getting what we needed. After town we returned to the camper and put dinner in the crockpot. I also worked a bit on our hitch system for the trailer. I raised the ball about an inch or so to take some pressure off the front tires.
The rain started about 2:30pm and didn’t stop until 11. We played some Yahtzee, had a few beverages, watched some shows and just hung out. It was a nice change of pace from driving for a week.
