SLC, Provo, Heber
Sunday was pretty much just a drive day. We continued south into Idaho and almost made a detour east when we saw Grand Teton in the distance. We’ve got some unfinished business in Nevada and Utah so we pressed on. At a fuel stop in southern Idaho, I did a good deed and jump started a diesel truck for a guy. He was staying in a rig behind the gas station and both his batteries for the truck went dead. We got him taken care of and hit the road.
We pressed on to Provo and made it to the KOA for a few nights. It was 85* in the afternoon and it’s been months since we’ve had that. We did a few loads of laundry, made dinner and watched our shows.
Monday and Tuesday we relaxed and regrouped. It was nice to not tow for a few days. We hit up Costco and found TP. Apparently it was sold out in many places across the country again. We also went to our first Trader Joe’s in 6 months and kept it under $200. We went RV shopping and nearly pulled the trigger on a new Brinkley…almost. After almost buying a new travel trailer we had lunch at El Molcajete. It was really good, but being in Utah there were only n/a margs. If we could’ve had a real marg, I probably would’ve bought a new trailer.
We also took a ride up to Heber City and stopped at another Black Rifle Coffee shop. There are plenty in the Salt Lake City area, but we didn’t spend much time in the cities…too busy. This shop appears to be a franchise store, owned by a retired Heber area law enforcement officer. It’s a nice shop and we spent a bit of money stocking up. Heber City, Park City and Midway are beautiful areas. It’s a little out of my price range, but a great area. It was a little smoky due to area fires, hopefully they stay out of town.
I also made a quick stop at Fieldcraft Survival in Provo. Mike Glover has created a space that feels welcoming and homey and the people there are a community. Tuesday night we did some bedding, a little regular laundry and washed the ALCAN off our rigs.
