Almost there…Not
4/18 Friday to 4/22 Tuesday:
After waiting out the snow, we had a great drive up to Three Forks, MT. We finally stopped at Greycliff Mill and had lunch. It’s an old mill from the 1870’s that’s been refurbished by a family. We enjoyed our sandwiches and toured the grounds. They did an awesome job bringing this place back to life. It was too early to stay the night so we headed west.
We decided to stay at Bridger Brewery for the night and I entered the wrong location into the GPS. We had a nice Friday afternoon tour of Bozeman, or Bozeangeles as I’ve heard Montanans refer to it. I don’t recommend the tour if you are pulling your trailer. About 40 minutes further west you will find the right HH location in Three Forks. Parking was easy and we went in for a few beers as we had a late lunch. The views from here are great and the drinks are good. The 90 actually quieted down quite a bit and we had a good nights sleep.
Saturday we had a short drive up to Helena. We picked up a breakfast burrito from Wheat Montana. It was alright, I don’t think we have to go back. We stopped at Super One to pick up a few items, to include 4 Pasty’s. Haven’t had them yet…. We got settled into the KOA and the workers used to live in Redmond. We enjoyed chatting with them the past few days. There was also a great spot just north of the campground to run Duncan off leash. He enjoyed it.
Easter Sunday we just hung out around the trailer and had a quiet day.
Monday was a busy day of running errands, an eye appointment for Katy, shopping at Costco and a blood donation. The weather was so-so and we wound up with a bit of snow. I tried to mail some items to Valdez via UPS but it would have been $179 for $150 worth of items. I ended up getting rid of the items to our new friends from Redmond and will replace them when we get to AK.
Today I had the truck in the shop for maintenance and a good once over. It was a lot more than I anticipated and can’t wait until I have a spot to do it myself. Katy cleaned the rig and got things around the rig ready for travel. We did a few loads of laundry in the afternoon and serviced our tanks too.
It’s hard to believe we started out 10 miles north of the border and we are in northern Montana now. We still aren’t halfway there and have approximately 2,400 miles to go. Time for bed, crossing the border tomorrow.
