WY, So Dak and Iowa

9/27-28/25:

Saturday was spent relaxing at the campsite.  We made breakfast, had coffee, possibly some mimosas.  It’s been 3 years since my dad passed and I thought about him a lot.

We hung out with the kids by the beach and played fetch with Duncan.  He swam his butt off and had a good time.  Both the pups also got a good brushing.  As I said, not an exciting day.  We made fish tacos and again ran out of water when I was taking a shower.  Quick 5 gallon jug transfer and we had enough for dishes and the bathroom.

Sunday we were up and rolling early.  We feel a push to get down to TN and the weather is too hot to Boondock in most places.  So Dak had temps in the mid to high 80’s today so we pushed all the way to Sioux Falls.  A few podcasts and fuel stops.

We left Ninilchik on the Kenai on 8/24 and the quickest route to get here is 3,352 miles.  Today we surpasssed 6,200.  It’s been a heck of a ride.

After getting to our campground, we did 4 loads of laundry, made dinner and watched some YouTube videos.

9/29/15:

Have you heard of Pella Iowa?  Look it up.  We drove south out of Sioux Falls and then east into Central Iowa.  We eventually made it to Pella Iowa and Wallashuck Campground.  It’s part of a Corp of Engineers facility on Lake Red Rock.  It was $22/night for electric hookups.  We leveled out, turned the AC on and went to explore.  It was 89*.

Our first stop was SE of Pella at Frisian Farms Cheese House.  We sampled just about everything they had to offer and walked away with 3 items, to include curds and a few flavored blocks.

Back in Pella, we went to a few meat shops to include I’nt Veld’s and bought a few items.  We also picked up a dip from Ulrichs shop.  We visited Jaarsma bakery too and snagged a few sweets.  Wandering through town had us impressed, what a cute place with more than a touch of Dutch or Holland Vibes.  We would definitely stop here if we came back.  Pella IA is home to Pella Windows, its most likely the largest employer in the area.

We stopped at Westside Social for dinner and a few drinks and then went back to the rig.  The food and drinks were good and we also recommend stopping here.  Back at the rig we played fetch with the kids, fed them and watched some shows.
